Job Title:     Schools Worker: full-time 37.5 hours per week Reports to: Christian Connections in Schools (CCiS) Salary:         £26-32,000 per annum

Christian Connections in Schools has a vision to make Jesus known in primary and secondary schools in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, through partnership with local churches and as a mission partner with Scripture Union. We currently support a full-time schools worker who has an outstanding reputation in our local schools, and we are now seeking to recruit a second member of staff to help develop the work. This will provide an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for making Jesus known in our local schools. The role will involve:

  • Schools work: includes advocating the Christian faith and lifestyle, and support work with children and young people. This will entail leading/taking part in lessons, assemblies and Christian group meetings, including prayer meetings; helping to set up new Christian groups and establishing appropriate aims and objectives; and being involved in, and supportive of, the school community in appropriate ways.

  • Local work: includes developing and maintaining contact with churches and enabling them to be involved with local schools, so that church groups have an active concern for teachers and pupils and a desire to support any Christians among them.

  • Training: includes the recruiting, resourcing and support of volunteers; and undertaking personal and professional development by study and training and participating in an annual work review.

It is expected that the schools worker will be proactive in making contact with schools and churches, whilst recognising that all activities within schools or churches are at their invitation and approval.

The role will include some weekend and evening commitments. We are willing to consider a part time worker or job share.

In order to establish a Christian connection in schools and churches this member of staff will need to be a practising Christian. The post is subject to satisfactory references and the usual DBS checks.
