We make Jesus known in schools through:

  • Partnership with local churches, individuals and Christians in schools.
  • Developing good Relationships with individuals and schools.
  • Respecting the beliefs of others and the school environment as a place of education.
  • Being Relevant in communicating the good news of Jesus as it is revealed in the Bible.

Some things we do are:

Assemblies and RE/PSHE lessons

CCiS workers share with large groups in assemblies some of what Jesus said and did. They contribute to the school RE/PSHE curriculum and provides opportunities for discussion in a classroom setting

Christmas Unwrapped and Easter Cracked

These are seasonal events where local schools are invited to send their Year 6 classes to church-based presentations of the great events of the Bible. Each presentation provides a warm welcome to the church and shares the Christmas and Easter stories in a way that is memorable, interactive and engaging.

  • 45 Schools attend in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead
  • 11 Churches involved
  • Approximately 50 other areas of the country now use the material

It’s Your Move!

It’s Your Move! is a session and resources to help year 6 pupils prepare to move to senior school. It is held in primary schools between May and July.

  • Presented in 55 local schools
  • To 3400 pupils

“The co-ordination of an event that was not denominational, and not church based but rather schools based, but co-ordinating with a range of churches, is the benefit you bring. I see you as a bridge builder and catalyst for such events.”

Illuminate

Taking place every few years Illuminate is a week of activities to make Jesus known to young people and staff through school-based sessions and an end of week concert at a local leisure centre.

Christian music artists LZ7 and Saintz take assemblies and lessons along with the Friday evening concert. The event impacts around 3000 secondary-school age pupils. The week is supported by prayer and training events for churches and volunteers.

CCiS workers also spend time with pupils, staff and others at more informal occasions such as lunch and break times. They support school Christian groups and run other occasional events.
